Hell’s Gate National Park is located in the Rift Valley of Kenya, approximately 90 kilometres northwest of Nairobi. Covering an area of about 68.25 square kilometres, the park is named for its dramatic landscapes, including a pair of steep cliffs and geothermal activity that resembles a “gate to hell.” Established in 1984, Hell’s Gate is renowned for its unique geological features, rich biodiversity, and opportunities for various outdoor activities.
A sanctuary for various wildlife, Hell’s Gate hosts buffalo, zebras, giraffes, and more. The geothermal activity at Olkaria provides an awe-inspiring experience. Best Time To Visit
The Best Time to visit Hell’s Gate National Park is during the dry season, which runs from June to October. The weather is generally clear and dry, making it perfect for hiking, cycling, and wildlife viewing. During these months, animals are more likely to congregate around water sources, making it easier to spot wildlife. The rainy season from March to May can make some of the park’s trails muddy and slippery, but this time of year also offers lush, green landscapes and fewer visitors. The shoulder months of November and December are also a good time to visit, with mild weather and fewer crowds, allowing for a more peaceful experience.
